Taobao order delivery - by 28th March

If you haven't been on taobao, you should go there now.
Prices are amazing. Range of goods available are amazing.
A good example would be this clock here, which you can find at Westmall level 1 for SGD$60++.

On taobao, it costs me only SGD$44. So I think its pretty worth it to do that :)

The shipping is quite amazingly expensive too, if you order only 1 or 2 pcs of items.

So therefore I'm coming up with a self-delivery in March if there are enough orders.
The method of payment are similiar to the usual quote; item cost + ems + handling charge.
Details of shipping are as follows:

Shipping charge:
For first 500g, RMB$190 (190/4.45=SGD$42)
Subsequent 500g, RMB$45 (45/4.45=SGD$10.10)

Handling charge:
SGD$5/item for every SGD$100 value.

Once you send me the item links, I'll double check with seller if he/she has the ones with the descriptions provided. Upon confirmation, I will bill you via email and you'll send money to my POSBank/paypal account for the item.

For the postage, I'll accumulate all items to the last second week of the month and then divide the cost accordingly to buyer and weight of the items among all customers. Once that is decided upon, I'll bill you again for the delivery.

Thank you for your attention. Please buy from Taobao and convince others to do so.
It might hurt the Singapore economy by a few thousand dollars, but I'm quite certain it won't hurt you at all as it saves you and me money :)

Contact me at ahfaii@hotmail.com (msn/email) for more information. I'll be happy to answer your queries :)

some quick snapshots on first moments of 2009 and slow blogging ahead

I almost died queuing for a ticket both times. But it was worth it to see her smile and the surprise on her face when she saw me at her door... :D

...

If you have people dying around you, read this.

Another colleague in my company is dying of cancer. His hair's all gone.
The fella's in a pretty bad shape now, but he stands strong still...not needing any kind of useless greetings and consolation. That makes me respect him a lot, not that he needs it from me anyway. The feeling he gives off is very much like a dying version of Zoro in one-piece; the tone of his voice and the way he does things; regretless, just-do-it attitude & fearless at all times. I'm not gay....but he's just fucking awesome!

Occasionally I'd see him in the office to come in some days and he'd be still as cool as ever, just less energy to utter nonsense and etc. We used to play badminton on weekly basis last year. I always get thrashed by everybody but well, it was fun playing with them.

I sincerely hope he wins the battle against this deadly enemy within...

...

On other issues; Today, I spent 12 hrs on a suffocatingly stinking train, followed by 3 hrs of crappy bus ride travelling all the way back to Guangxi again. I'm tired, not wanting to work and there's plenty of reporting to do. No walking around in the factory was required today... luckily. And I've got a date to buy some doggie clothes for my dogs tonight....yosha!!! :D

Left: buddy, Right: bee (cause always jumping around from one spot to another, non-stop)

Bad days

I was late to work today, because time was at fault; a 30 minute bath, 10 minute shaving, 30 minutes of stuffing goodies into my lil bags and an impossibly slow check out procedures from the hotel...

A reminder of about life; One of my ex- bosses died. A very nice guy; hardworking, loves his family, etc etc...kena heart attack in the midst of marking papers in his office. The family only discovered he not around when he did come home for 1 whole day. I feel sorry for his wife. I really do.

Then I saw the article about Chew Chor Meng + Spinal Muscular Atrophy on yahoo.sg.

Then I ate crap stuff and laosai-ed at this god forsaken place in China.
And still, laosai-ing...

To all to wrote to me

You guys probably noticed that I haven't been online, blogging, or MSNing for a very long time already. Workload has been overwhelming for the past months, eating my precious play/study/pcc time away. Remaining time has been spent on writing personal journals, drinking with a few angmo friends and ... blah.

And I saw this picture on Phoebe's blog... with Phoebe and Sara in it.

Aren't they getting prettier and prettier... :\

Its kinda sad that I've not been able to hang out with them, so many months. I've given up hope on trying and trying to meet them, only to call them at the last minute that I can't make it. They've probably given up hope on me as well... but that can't be helped.

Work is still not very satisfying. Most of the time I'm just meeting customers and making them happy, treating them makan and drinks, throwing some money under the table onto their laps... its all fun and enjoyable. But I see no future in it...

And oh, I've uploaded the pictures that I took when the typhoon pabuk passed by HK. Generally its nothing about the wind... more of liz and her lovely friend though :P
And here's a few... :D

Will work for donuts.
Liz and her friend.... Cheryl?
sorry hehe~ I'm sure I'd remember her name better if i see her more often :P

Sweet Dynasty, the last restaurant on the street still open during the lvl8 typhoon arrangements...

Cropped; less of my fat tummy and more of the beauties.

Mental Note to self.

I need to make a personal guide. A guide that has recommendations on how to burn time in hong kong/china. All the restaurants, etc... blahblah. Then I won't end up like today, acting stupidly wondering where to bring two beautiful ladies to have dinner when the level 8 typhoon blew my original plans away... -_-;;; sigh.

But still, it was a wonderful evening...

Responsiblities, Bribes and Death

I received a report a couple of days ago from a China client, complaining that our products are all scratched(aka fucked, since no-scratches is the standard). They commented that nothing will save it, so they are gonna charge all cost of the materials to us since they provided the materials to us in the first place...

It is shocking news to me and my dad. Firstly, no one would possibly be able to pay for those materials since they are non-standard products and cannot be found in asia, as far as we know. It was custom made from Africa, sold to Singapore and then resold to our client. And it takes 3 months to create it, too. So even if anyone has got money, they wouldn't be able to speed up the process. With such a delay, the amount of manpower set aside to install these goods would be totally wasted. We are talking about 300-1000 people here, with highly paid 1 manager per 10-20 people...

Secondly, I, being in charge of QC, has been there for 50% of the time and has paid special attention to this batch of goods since its so freakin important. I cannot apprehend how these boards could possibly be screwed up since I've been fucking everyone to make them bear in mind how easily these materials can be damaged. Its surface, in reality, is almost as soft as tofu. Even a person with long fingernails would damage the materials if there's no safety tape on it...its that easy.

So we found our clients QC. And the client's client's QC. We opened up the latest batch of goods which I brought over personally. No damage, except for 5 pieces in the front. It was a case of accident, caused by my dear undead goblins who really, cannot be pack things properly. I fired the fella over the phone, with immediate effect, as a show of determination to get things right. I learnt that from local tv and authorities :o

The 2 QCs were generally around my age. We weren't very friendly at first, knowing that someone's gotta take the blame for these mishaps/accidents. Atmosphere was tense and everyone was unhappy about the quality of goods. But no one pointed fingers at anyone yet.

Client QC: Eh how to settle this? all your goods are scratched. if we use it, we're gonna be so fucked...
Client's Client's QC: Yeah. Fai, how?
Me: I'm not quite sure if its our fault that these materials are damaged. When it left our factory it was as perfect. I personally checked it all and I've photos to prove it.(K800i, my anti-responsibility device)
Client QC: But how do you explain all the goods are damaged now?
Me: Well, I don't think its my workers because, we are all trained on how to handle these materials with extreme care. Your workers aren't.

Babble babble babble. I couldn't argue with them much on the topic; they are the client. they are always right. Talk more, annoy them more. Annoy them more, your life = more miserable.

So there, we verbally promised to pay for the goods. A bold move.
The meeting ended amicably, since we had already taken the blame temporarily.

Dad left me at the factory to supervise further movement/transportation of the goods and to have dinner with the QCs. We checked a couple of the latest batch; no problem. Into the electroplating plant it went. Then we had dinner at a restaurant, talked a lot. I took the opportunity to squeeze some internal information about their companies and I got what I wanted. Anyway, these two guys were university grads, earning a quarter of what i do and actually only graduated half a year ago. We had some good food and banter. Everyone was happy.

Casually, I placed into their pockets (knowingly) what they earned for a month. The temptation was big for them. I gave them further reasons to pocket it, like 'oh your boss that day, told me to pass this money to you for your transportation and lodging here...', etc. Lame excuses, but its citizens of china that you're dealing with. Works a treat :)

The reports coming from them the next day, was much, much more pleasant than before. All the damage reported was halved, which was actually true. It was just that someone was trying refuse to work on this project, thats all.

I was glad the little money minimized the problem for us. Now what is left to pay, is about SGD$100,000. On a positive note, its been halved. What more could we ask for?

---

That night after dinner with the QCs, I took a bus to wander around that area. It was all industrial zone, full of ceramic factories and distributors. Pollution was extremely heavy and a thick fog of smoke was constant on the road. I felt like i was breathing in sand. Coughing was continuous; there was no 1 minute without anyone coughing...

The bus came to a t junction. I saw a body lying in a pool of blood. A damaged bicycle was a few metres away from the body. A hit and run incident has occurred. Many vehicles passed by, none bothered to stop. They were not intending to become involved in such an incident. That's the general thinking of all these bastards around here.

I got off the bus, asked someone for a number to call an ambulance. They told me to call police first, because the police would arrange an ambulance over together with them. That sounded fine to me. I stood next to the body and waited an answer from the 110. They were very busy; 1 whole minute to answer the bloody phone? what the fuck?

An impatient lady answered the phone, demanded the reason for calling and first my name and contact number. I told her what happened, but she was amazing with the misinterpretion. I told her an UNKNOWN car has knocked someone down, she asked me what are the TWO CAR'S plate number. etc etc etc... yes. They are, the amazingly deaf/misinterpreting police officers.

10 minutes later, the police arrived. They acknowledge arrival to location and declared they have found the body. ONLY THEN THEY CALLED FOR THE AMBULANCE...

So that's a total of 25 minutes to get an ambulance. A person in such a state probably can't wait even for more than 8-10 minutes lor. What are they thinking anyway? I personally conclude it as a total lack of values for other people's lives.

When the ambulance came, they took their own sweet time to go walk up to the body, touched a little and confirmed she's dead by feeling for breath through the nostrils. What the fuck? What happened to checking for pulse? And then they left quickly, telling police officers to get the funeral car to pick up the body...

The crowd gathered on the road to check out the latest drama. Half an hour later, they were all there. No efforts was made to tell those idiots to fuck off the road before another accident happens again... well done.

For me, this has been an eye opening experience for me. Don't expect anyone to call the ambulance for you unless you have 'save my life for RMB$102354263577566' written on you somewhere. That is all.

A chance for revolution

I've been entrusted with more important task in the factory these days, since my dear Goblin Zombie Taskmaster has not been executing his orders properly through his own methods.

The scalar chain of command needs to be enforced. Paperwork on quality/quantity of our products must be done to ensure all our products are done well. But goblins / zombies / goblin zombies can't do such things. If they could, we Hongkies won't get paid exorbitant salaries to work there... haha~

I plan to introduce a new system in the factory. I call it, the "mission note".
All task assigned to the goblin zombies will be written on paper and stamped with my personal seal. Whenever goblin zombies complete fulfills the requirements/completes the mission, I'll reward them with cash when they turn in the note and show me the completed tasks. If they don't, then I'll mark the note as 'failed'... and they will be punished if they can't complete it more than a given number of chances.

Its like a dog treat. It is.

A part of me feels wrong to treat people like that. The other part tells me to feed cat food to cats and feed dog food to dogs, not feed human food to any of these animals.

And oh, I think I'd hire another personal secretary to do all that chinese writing for me. She'll be pretty, has technical knowledge on our products, intelligent, helpful, etc etc... :x

...

Enough of fantasy and back to reality. That would probably not work, because the monetary incentive would be really costly. We have so much things to do... imagine paying them $100 to get a job done? What if we have like 500 jobs for them to do? Shitty.

What if they disagree on the terms provided and refuse to work? That'd suck too. Maybe they'd even give me a punch if i deem their work as shitty :o

But the scalar chain of command... it really has to be enforced...

...

You guys don't need to understand what I'm saying. I'm just frustrated over stupid people that are working for us... bloody goblin zombie peons+taskmasters... grr...

work.

I have more responsibilities now, but not more money.
The feeling I'm having these day, is kinda like playing a computer game called 'Simulation-Business', whereby the difficulty is set to hard level; in debt, with corrupted managers and uncooperative workers, limited resources, theft within the company, bad management system... blahblahblah.

That's all the resources that you can have to win the game...

...

I need a pay raise. And I'll always do.
I need to make myself so good that he'd never find someone else to replace me.
Then i'd ask for a really thick paycheck, which he'll not be able to refuse......

Sian

sian.

sian.

kan pua kan pua kan pua sian & dulan.

China can be a really fucked up place.

batteries, not included

My lorry's battery kena stolen when I left it in some dimly-lighted neighborhood, just beneath my friend's house. The locking mechanism that includes 2 bent nails locking it were cut with presumably, a pair of big snipper they use to break doors. And they couldn't be fucking bothered to unscrew the nail that attaches the wire to the battery, so they cut the wire too... making me pay another fucking $50 for it.

act like you're working; god's watching!

Then I went a police station to get a report filed, but they are so just fucking useless in China;
1.) no report number, no carbon copy, or computer record(no one would know if they dump it into the bin right after i left),
2.) made me wait 1.5 hours then start to interview me,
3.) made me repeat and repeat my answers over and over again like they can't understand Chinese,
4.) they speak with near-incomprehensible godknowswhere village slangs,
5.) none of the people inside the station other than 'the boss' was actually working or doing anything at all, except for smoking nonstop, drink tea, sleep or watch TV.

And finally, when they were gonna hand me a copy of a 'filed complaint' to claim insurance, they couldn't even fucking find their chop. Its a fucking police department chop lor, how can they lose it? They told me to come back again, tomorrow.

That's the 神州(Land of wonders) Police for you if you get into fucked up situations like this. They are just fucking eating away taxpayers money for NOTHING, nothing at all. Fuck you bastards, fuck you!!!

I went home, kena fuck by my Dad. He didn't fucking buy the cover-all-loss insurance, only got the traffic insurance which doesn't include theft. So I foot the bill for the battery... Paid a fresh RMB$500 for it. Well done! Nbcb!!! Hope you die a horrible death, asshole!! @$^#%*&#

Life, normal.

---About work

My job, by itself is not too tough. I just need to manage people without educations of any kind that probably hates me a lot, keeping quality of our products in control while the people who do it are ruining it, ensuring rules and regulations are being abided to even though its near impossible to be followed...

Its the details, the small little details that are hard to handle. I feel like I'm working against a torrent of obstructions; my lack of knowledge in the technical expertise even though I've been here for nearly a year already, the people I work with and the language they speak (hunanese. sounds like mandarin but with a strange tongue curl to it.), which makes communication extremely hard. And even without it, it would be pointless also. What do they care about me anyway? duh.

There's been a problem with some stuff we ordered from Singapore and I might need to be attached to that company that makes the goods, as a QC... I'm looking forward to it....very much.

---About family

I spoke to my father last night about my brother and the exams he failed.

We are both aware that there's a problem in this whole situation; no one in the family actualy dotes on him, plays with him, or actually does things that are happy with him. My mom screams at him like crazy on the slightest things, me and my father in china most of the time, exposure to friends would be those online, on pellet-gun forums etc. We are concerned, very.

Father always say that buying things and encouraging him to play with interestings that he can learn from. It is not a bad thing actually, just that bro has no interest in anything like that. I see the whole scenario repeated again. His 'oh-lets-go-play+disect-this-and-learn-something-out-of-it-session'. Now that he doesn't have time, he stuffs bro with money and tells him that. Bro doesn't do that; bro buys guns with the money received and makes dad angry. Its a endless cycle.

Dad said he's hopeless. A cow can be brought to the river, but you can never make it drink.

I explained to him once again on my philosophy of learning. A person who wants to learn, is fueled by the passion that is 'infected' upon him or her by various factors such as environment, peers or his/her lifestyle. With a passion to do something, that person will want to find out the methods how to do it best.

To infect, is to make the cow thirsty. Walk it a few ten miles of road without water, then bring it to the river...

But the question that remains unanswered is, how to make bro thirst for knowledge? And who should do it?

---About the restaurant project
I discussed my restaurant plans with my cousin recently. He has the cash, and good management skills, great personality... all he needs is a good executor of his plans, which he hopes would be me.

But whats in it for me after it takes off?

Viva Singapoorer! The things I did last week!

1. Asked for a glass of Red Wine on board the airplane and got a bemused look+weird 'okay' from the stewardess as a bonus. I do not know why... but well, at least she didn't ask me for my passport. The wine's from France and its not bad at all. ouht keep a bottle at home... hehe~

2. Totally forgot my assignment's deadline which means I'd probably have to freakin repeat my course...argh...-pwned-

3. Watched Pirates of the Carribeans 3. Stayed for 'special ending'. Had a long and well deserved toilet break after that...

4. Stayed in a queue for Boon Lay Nasi Lemak for 15 minutes without moving more than a few steps, had Ba Chor Mee instead...

5. Stepped on Singapore's grass! Its a wonderful feeling. They just don't have this kinda grass over there...

4. Enjoyed a 28 hours non-stop gaming therapy session with the boney dragon that rendered us dead tired,

5. Did a terrible presentation at the meeting with client. The deal is... sigh... =_=;

6. Ate Murtabak @ Zam-Zam! Delicious! Yummy! Hooooorayyyy! I love curry :D :D :D

7. Visited Geylang with the First person on our phonelists! And the Cow! The bastards! :P
*(Please kindly change his name on your phonelist to "Mr. First" or "Mr. Peng" from now on, so that he can suffer less of your 'accidentally call him non-stop' that he does not enjoy.)

8. Met Liz and a terrible gatekeeper with a bad attitude at Gate 42 which closed the gate at me, giving me a good excuse to stay another few days in Singapore...

7. Bought Pandan Cake...sigh.
Upcoming in production for youtube... :
The Pirates of the Pandan Leaves: Curse of the Pandan Cake!

6. Sat at coffee bean or some equivalent cafe @ Central with Ms. Viktoria & Co.
They are all nice, kinda kinky and crazy...

5. Passed by this cafe/restaurant place en route to a meet-a-melon session. Promised self to go there next time when he comes back to Singapore...

4. Played with Kaiwei's Canon 400D SLR Camera with that really cool pair of lens. Very tempted to pay 12 months of installments for it...very tempted. Had Nasi Goreng Ayam with him, his bro and cow after ripping lots of his wonderful photos which I will probably not share with u all.... ehehehehe~

3. For last third entry, I'd prove to you that cow's middle raised fingers' a permanent fixture on his hand. Just like hoofs on a cow eh...? And OH! HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND NOW! RAISE THE ALARMS! TELL EVERYONE! THE WITCH HUNT HAS BEGAN!!!!! XD

2. The last day on Singapore grounds. Second time to the airport in 7 days' time. No more money to burn. On board the 'legendary "LP" locker of doom... I was tied to a lousy chair, without water(unless i paid for amazingly exorbitant prices for it) and then transported to Hong Kong on that noisy machine. In my mind, I think I heard a voice saying this... "And in an emergency, if you're gonna need to walk the plank, lay it out yourself by pulling the two handles right next to ya! Don't know how to do it or cannot do it, die lor! We 'JS piratez' ain't gonna help ya with that! :P"

1. Back in Hong Kong. Hungry and poor. Burger King has taken Mcdonald's position @ the airport and is now selling burgers at 'UNBEATABLE' prices like SGD$8 a set meal! Wah lan!
Singapore Burger King how to compare!!!! LOL~
